What is the minimum age to join Walima?

What are the photo guidelines?

Your primary photo should clearly show your face. Photos must be real photos of you (no stock images, cartoons, or AI-generated pictures), no group photos as your primary image, no inappropriate or overly edited content, and a minimum resolution of 400×400 pixels. All uploaded photos are reviewed by our moderation team before becoming visible.

Can I keep my photos private or control who sees them?

Absolutely. You have full control over your photo visibility: Visible to all members, Visible on accept only (revealed after you accept someone's interest), or Blurred until you decide (you can manually reveal to specific members). Yes. Go to Settings → Profile Visibility → Hide Profile. Your profile will not appear in search results or match suggestions, and no one will be able to contact you. You can reactivate at any time — all your data, conversations, and matches will be preserved.

Yes. The "Who Viewed Me" feature shows you a list of members who have recently visited your profile. Free members can see limited details, while Premium members can view the full list with complete profile access. How do I send messages to a match?

Once you and another member have mutually accepted each other's interest, a conversation thread opens in your Inbox. You can send text messages, voice notes, and share profile details. Free members can send a set number of messages, while Premium members enjoy unlimited messaging with all accepted matches.

Does Walima have video and voice calling?

Yes. Walima offers built-in video calling and voice calling so you can get to know your match beyond text — without sharing your personal phone number. This feature is available to Premium members and can be initiated from any active conversation.

How do I cancel my Premium subscription?

No. Your phone number and email address are kept completely confidential and are never displayed on your profile or shared with other members. No. Walima profiles are not indexed by search engines. Your profile cannot be found through Google, Bing, or any social media platform. Only registered and verified Walima members can view profiles within the platform. Your search is completely private.

Every profile goes through a multi-step verification process: phone number verification via OTP, email verification via activation link, photo screening for authenticity, AI-powered fraud detection, and manual review for flagged profiles. Verified profiles display a verification badge, giving you added confidence when browsing.

How do I report a suspicious profile or misuse?

Tap the three-dot menu on any profile or conversation, then select "Report Profile". Choose the reason (fake profile, inappropriate photos, abusive messages, financial scam, etc.), optionally attach screenshots, and submit. Reporting automatically blocks the member for you. Our safety team reviews every report and takes action — usually within 24 hours.

How do I block or unblock a member?

To block someone, go to their profile and tap the three-dot menu → "Block Member". They will no longer be able to see your profile, send you messages, or appear in your search results. They will not be notified that you blocked them. To unblock, go to Settings → Blocked Members, find the member, and tap "Unblock".

Someone is asking me for money. What should I do?

Accepted Answer

Never send money to anyone on the platform — regardless of the reason they give. This is the most common form of matrimonial fraud. Immediately stop all communication, report their profile using the in-app report feature, take screenshots of the conversation for evidence, and contact our safety team at safety@walima.app. We have a zero-tolerance policy for financial fraud.

Is using Walima halal? Is online matrimony permissible in Islam?

Walima is a matrimony platform, not a dating app. Our entire platform is designed around helping Muslims find a spouse for the sacred purpose of nikah. We encourage family involvement, support Wali participation in conversations, promote modesty through photo privacy controls, and actively remove users who do not demonstrate serious marriage intent.

How do I permanently delete my account?

Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. You will be asked to confirm your decision and provide an optional reason. Once confirmed, your profile, photos, conversations, and all associated data will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. If you have an active Premium subscription, please cancel it first to avoid future charges.

How do I manage notifications and email alerts?
