1. Our Mission and Values
Walima is built on the belief that every Muslim individual and family deserves a trusted, respectful, and dignified space to find a compatible life partner. Our Platform is grounded in Islamic values of modesty, honesty, family involvement, and the sanctity of marriage. These Community Guidelines exist to protect that mission and ensure every member has a safe, positive, and meaningful experience.
These Guidelines apply to every aspect of your interaction on Walima — your profile, photos, bio, messages, chat conversations, interests, success stories, and any other content or behavior on the Platform. They apply equally to all members, whether free or premium, verified or unverified, and whether using the web or mobile app.
Violating these Guidelines may result in content removal, temporary suspension, permanent ban, forfeiture of premium subscription without refund, and in serious cases, referral to law enforcement. All enforcement decisions are logged in our immutable audit trail for accountability and transparency.
2. Who Can Use Walima
Walima is exclusively for adults seeking a lawful matrimonial alliance. To use the Platform, you must:
Be at least 18 years of age (required by law and enforced through our registration process and Google Play/Apple App Store age-restriction mechanisms)
Be legally eligible to marry under the personal law applicable to you
Register with the genuine intention of seeking marriage — not casual dating, friendship, networking, or any other purpose
Be a real person using your true identity — not an organization, business, bot, or fictitious character
Guardians and family members may create profiles on behalf of eligible individuals with their explicit consent. The guardian must accurately identify their relationship to the person whose profile they manage.
Walima is not a dating platform. It is a matrimonial service. This distinction is fundamental to our community and is reflected in every aspect of how we design, moderate, and enforce our policies.
3. Be Honest — Truthful Profiles
Trust is the foundation of matrimonial matchmaking. Every member deserves to interact with real, truthful information. We require absolute honesty in all aspects of your profile.
3.1 Accurate Personal Information
All information in your profile must be truthful, accurate, and current. This includes your name, age, location, marital status, education, profession, income range, religious practices, family details, and partner preferences. Misrepresenting any of these details — including exaggeration, omission of material facts, or outright fabrication — is a serious violation.
Examples of prohibited misrepresentation:
Claiming to be single when you are currently married or in a relationship
Falsifying your age, education level, profession, or income
Misrepresenting your religious sect, madhab, or level of religious practice
Hiding a previous marriage, divorce, or children
Using a false name or alias (except where a guardian creates a profile with consent)
Misrepresenting your location, nationality, or immigration status
3.2 Genuine Photos
Your profile photos must be genuine, recent photographs of the person whose profile they appear on. You must follow these photo standards:
Photos must clearly show your face (for primary profile photo)
Photos must be taken within the last 2 years
No stock photos, celebrity photos, AI-generated images, or photos of other people
No heavily filtered, digitally altered, or misleading photos that misrepresent your appearance
No group photos where the profile owner cannot be clearly identified
No photos containing text overlays, advertisements, watermarks, or contact information
No screenshots of other profiles or other platforms
Photos that do not meet these standards may be flagged by our AI photo moderation system and removed after human review.
3.3 One Profile Per Person
Each individual may have only one active profile on Walima. Creating multiple profiles for the same person, whether to circumvent restrictions, avoid blocks, or for any other reason, is strictly prohibited. Our AI duplicate detection system actively scans for duplicate profiles, which are flagged for admin review and removal.
3.4 Identity Verification
We strongly encourage all members to complete identity verification (NID/passport and selfie) to earn the verified badge. While verification is not mandatory for all features, verified profiles receive higher visibility in search results and match recommendations, and build greater trust with potential matches. Submitting fraudulent or altered verification documents is a criminal offence and will result in immediate permanent ban and potential referral to law enforcement.
4. Be Respectful — Dignified Interactions
Every member on Walima is someone’s son, daughter, brother, or sister. Treat every person on this Platform with the dignity, courtesy, and respect that the process of seeking a life partner deserves.
4.1 Respectful Communication
All messages, chat conversations, and interactions must be respectful, appropriate, and consistent with the Platform’s matrimonial purpose. This means:
Begin conversations with courtesy and sincerity
Be clear about your intentions and honest about your interest level
Accept rejection gracefully — if someone declines your interest, respect their decision and do not persist
Respond to messages in a timely manner when possible, or politely decline if you are not interested
Use appropriate language in both Bangla and English conversations
Remember that families may be involved — guardian-managed profiles mean a parent or family member may be reading your messages
4.2 Zero Tolerance for Harassment
Walima has a strict zero-tolerance policy for any form of harassment. The following behaviors will result in immediate account suspension or permanent ban:
Sending threatening, intimidating, or abusive messages
Persistent unwanted contact after being declined, ignored, or blocked
Stalking behavior, whether on or off the Platform
Blackmail, extortion, or emotional manipulation
Sharing or threatening to share another member’s private information, photos, or conversations outside the Platform
Making derogatory comments about someone’s appearance, family, religion, education, or background
Using vulgar, obscene, or sexually explicit language
Pressuring someone to share personal contact details, meet in person, or make decisions before they are ready
4.3 Respect for Diversity
Walima serves the global Muslim community, which is beautifully diverse. We welcome members of all ethnic backgrounds, nationalities, sects, madhabs, cultures, skin tones, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Discrimination, bigotry, racism, sectarianism, or derogatory remarks based on any of these characteristics is strictly prohibited.
This includes but is not limited to:
Discriminatory language in your bio, preferences description, or messages
Ridiculing or disrespecting another member’s sect, madhab, or level of religious practice
Making derogatory comments about someone’s ethnicity, skin color, nationality, or regional background
Classism or financial shaming — mocking someone based on their income, profession, or family financial status
5. Keep It Halal — Appropriate Content
Walima is a halal matrimonial platform. All content and interactions must reflect the modesty and decorum expected in the context of seeking a marriage partner.
5.1 Prohibited Content
The following types of content are strictly prohibited on the Platform, including in profiles, photos, bios, messages, and any user-generated content:
Sexually Explicit Content: Any pornographic, sexually suggestive, provocative, or nude/semi-nude images, text, or messages. This includes suggestive poses, revealing clothing, and sexual innuendo.
Violence and Threats: Content depicting, glorifying, or promoting violence, self-harm, terrorism, or extremism of any kind.
Hate Speech: Content that promotes hatred, discrimination, or violence against any individual or group based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sect, gender, disability, or any other characteristic.
Illegal Activity: Content that promotes, facilitates, or depicts illegal activities, including drug use, weapons, fraud, or any criminal behavior.
Harmful Misinformation: Deliberately false information intended to deceive, manipulate, or harm other members.
Child Safety Violations: Any content that exploits, endangers, or sexualizes minors in any way. Walima has zero tolerance for child exploitation and will immediately report any such content to law enforcement.
Copyrighted Content: Content that infringes on the intellectual property rights of others, including copyrighted images, text, or media.
Spam and Commercial Content: Advertisements, promotions, solicitations, external links, chain messages, or any commercial content unrelated to the Platform’s matrimonial purpose.
5.2 Photo Standards
In addition to the authenticity requirements in Section 3.2, photos must meet the following appropriateness standards:
No nude, semi-nude, or sexually suggestive images
No images depicting alcohol consumption, smoking, drugs, or illegal substances
No images containing weapons, violence, or gore
No images with offensive gestures, symbols, or text
No bathroom or bedroom selfies that are inappropriate in context
Photos should present you in a manner appropriate for a matrimonial introduction
Our AI photo moderation system automatically screens all uploaded photos. Flagged photos are reviewed by human moderators before any action is taken. Photos that violate these standards will be removed and repeated violations may result in account suspension.
5.3 Bio and Profile Text Standards
Your bio, “About Me,” and “What I’m Looking For” sections should be thoughtful, honest, and appropriate. They should focus on who you are, what you value, and what you seek in a life partner. Do not include:
Personal contact information (phone numbers, email addresses, social media handles, WhatsApp numbers)
External website links or URLs
Offensive, vulgar, or inappropriate language
Demands or ultimatums (e.g., “Don’t message me if...” in a rude or degrading manner)
References to previous relationships in a negative or vindictive manner
Content copied from other profiles or generated without review
If you use our AI Bio Generator, you are responsible for reviewing and editing the generated text before publishing it. AI-generated content is a starting point — make sure it accurately represents you.
6. Protect Privacy — Yours and Others’
6.1 Respect Photo Privacy Settings
Walima provides photo privacy controls (visible to all, matches only, or blurred). These settings exist to protect members’ privacy and modesty. You must respect other members’ privacy choices. Specifically:
Do not screenshot, screen record, download, save, copy, or redistribute any member’s photos
Do not attempt to circumvent screenshot blocking or screen recording prevention measures
Do not share another member’s photos on social media, messaging apps, or any other platform
Do not use another member’s photos for any purpose outside of the Platform
Violation of photo privacy is one of the most serious offences on Walima and will result in immediate permanent ban.
6.2 Protect Personal Information
Do not share your personal contact information (phone number, email, home address, workplace address, social media accounts) in your public profile or bio. Contact exchange is available as a premium feature and should only be used with matched and trusted connections.
Equally important: do not share another member’s personal information with any third party without their explicit consent. This includes sharing their profile details, photos, or chat conversations with friends, family, or on social media.
6.3 Chat Privacy
Conversations between matched members are private. Do not share, publish, or distribute chat messages or screenshots of conversations outside the Platform without the explicit consent of all parties involved. Remember that guardian-managed profiles mean conversations may be monitored by family members as part of the culturally appropriate matchmaking process.
7. No Fraud, Scams, or Financial Exploitation
Walima has zero tolerance for fraud and financial exploitation. The following activities are strictly prohibited and will result in immediate permanent ban and referral to law enforcement:
Requesting or soliciting money, gifts, financial assistance, or loans from other members
Creating fake profiles for the purpose of scamming, catfishing, or defrauding other members
Impersonating another person to deceive other members
Advance-fee fraud (e.g., claiming to need money for travel, visa, medical emergency, or wedding expenses)
Investment scams, cryptocurrency schemes, or pyramid/MLM recruitment
Phishing — attempting to obtain other members’ login credentials, payment information, or personal data
Using the Platform to facilitate human trafficking, forced marriage, or any form of exploitation
Using stolen identity documents for verification
If anyone on the Platform asks you for money or financial information, do not respond. Report them immediately using the Report button on their profile or in chat. Our AI fake profile detection system continuously monitors for suspicious patterns, but your reports are invaluable in keeping the community safe.
8. Use the Platform Responsibly
8.1 Respect Platform Limits
Free and premium memberships have specific limits on daily matches, interests, and messages. These limits exist to encourage thoughtful engagement and prevent spam. Do not attempt to circumvent these limits through technical means, multiple accounts, or any other method.
8.2 No Automation or Bots
Do not use any automated tools, bots, scripts, crawlers, or third-party software to interact with the Platform, collect data, send messages, or perform any actions. Every interaction must be genuine and performed by a real person.
8.3 AI Features — Use Responsibly
Our AI-powered features (bio generator, icebreaker suggestions, smart replies, compatibility summaries) are designed to assist you. However:
Always review and personalize AI-generated content before sending or publishing
Do not use AI suggestions to misrepresent your personality, intentions, or communication style
Remember that AI suggestions are tools, not substitutes for genuine personal expression
If you use the AI chatbot for customer support, be truthful in your descriptions of issues
8.4 Chat Etiquette
Our real-time chat system is a privilege unlocked through mutual interest. Use it responsibly:
Our anti-spam system limits messages to 20 per minute — respect these limits
Do not send repetitive, copy-pasted, or mass-distributed messages to multiple matches
Do not use chat to advertise, promote, or solicit anything unrelated to matrimonial purposes
Do not share explicit images, even in premium image-sharing chat
If you are no longer interested, politely communicate that rather than ghosting
9. Safety First — Protecting Yourself
While we implement extensive safety measures including AI moderation, identity verification, and screenshot blocking, your personal safety is also your responsibility. We strongly recommend:
9.1 Before Communicating
Review the person’s full profile carefully before engaging
Look for the verified badge as an indicator of identity verification
Be cautious of profiles that seem too good to be true or contain inconsistencies
Take your time getting to know someone — do not rush into decisions
9.2 During Communication
Keep conversations on the Platform as long as possible before sharing external contact details
Never share financial information, bank details, or send money to someone you have met online
Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, it probably is
Involve your family members in the process when you feel comfortable
Do not share compromising photos or information that could be used against you
9.3 Meeting in Person
Always meet in a public place for the first meeting
Inform a trusted family member or friend about your plans, including the time, place, and person’s details
Consider having a family member accompany you or be nearby
Arrange your own transportation — do not depend on the other person for rides
Do not travel to another city or country to meet someone you have only interacted with online without involving family
9.4 Verify Independently
While Walima provides AI matching, compatibility scores, and identity verification, these are tools to assist — not replace — your own due diligence. Before making any matrimonial decision:
Independently verify the person’s identity, background, and claims
Involve trusted family members or a community elder in the evaluation process
Do not rely solely on the Platform’s verification badge or AI compatibility score
Consider involving an Imam, marriage counselor, or trusted advisor before formalizing any commitment
10. Reporting and Blocking
10.1 How to Report
If you encounter any member who violates these Community Guidelines, please report them immediately. You can report a member by:
Tapping the Report button on their profile page
Tapping the Report button within a chat conversation
Emailing support@walima.app with the member’s profile details and a description of the violation
Using the AI customer support chatbot to file a report
When reporting, please provide as much detail as possible, including screenshots (if applicable), the nature of the violation, and any relevant context. All reports are confidential — the reported member will not be informed of who reported them.
10.2 How to Block
You can block any member at any time from their profile or within a chat conversation. Blocking will:
Hide your profile from the blocked member completely
Prevent the blocked member from sending you interests or messages
Remove any existing match or chat history between you
Prevent the blocked member from finding you in search results
Blocking is immediate and the blocked member is not notified. You can manage your block list in Settings > Privacy > Blocked Users.
10.3 How We Handle Reports
Every report is reviewed by our moderation team, assisted by AI moderation tools. Our review process:
Reports are triaged by severity — urgent cases (threats, child safety, fraud) are prioritized
AI-flagged content is always reviewed by a human moderator before action is taken
We investigate both the reported content and the broader account activity
Actions are taken proportionally — from content removal to temporary suspension to permanent ban
All moderation actions are logged in our immutable audit trail
In cases involving criminal activity, we cooperate with law enforcement authorities
We aim to review all reports within 24 hours. Complex cases may take longer. You will be notified when your report has been reviewed and action has been taken.
11. Enforcement and Consequences
We take violations of these Community Guidelines seriously. Enforcement actions are proportional to the severity and frequency of the violation:
11.1 Content Removal
Content that violates these Guidelines (photos, bio text, messages) will be removed. You will be notified of the removal and the reason. First-time minor violations may receive a warning with the opportunity to correct the content.
11.2 Temporary Suspension
Repeated violations, or single serious violations, may result in temporary account suspension (7 to 30 days). During suspension, your profile is hidden and all Platform features are inaccessible. Your premium subscription timer continues during suspension.
11.3 Permanent Ban
The following violations result in immediate and permanent ban without prior warning:
Any form of harassment, threats, or stalking
Fraud, scams, or financial exploitation
Sharing, distributing, or threatening to distribute another member’s private photos
Child safety violations of any kind
Human trafficking or forced marriage facilitation
Submitting fraudulent verification documents
Creating accounts after a previous permanent ban
Permanently banned members forfeit any active premium subscription without refund. We reserve the right to pursue legal action in cases involving criminal activity.
11.4 Appeals
If you believe a moderation action was taken in error, you may submit an appeal within 14 days by emailing appeals@walima.app with your registered email, the action taken, and your explanation. Appeals are reviewed by a senior moderator not involved in the original decision. You will receive a response within 7 business days. The appeal decision is final.
12. AI-Powered Moderation and Transparency
Walima uses artificial intelligence to help maintain community safety and standards. We believe in transparency about how AI is used in moderation:
12.1 What AI Monitors
Photo Moderation: AI scans uploaded photos for nudity, explicit content, stock images, and policy violations
Fake Profile Detection: AI analyzes profile data for inconsistencies, bot-like behavior, and patterns associated with fraudulent accounts
Chat Moderation: AI monitors chat messages for harassment, spam, contact-sharing attempts, and inappropriate content
Duplicate Detection: AI identifies potential duplicate profiles using phone, email, and data similarity
12.2 Human Review Guarantee
No account will be suspended or permanently banned based solely on an AI decision. All AI-flagged content and accounts are reviewed by a human moderator before any enforcement action is taken. This ensures fairness and protects against AI false positives.
12.3 Continuous Improvement
We regularly audit our AI moderation systems for bias, accuracy, and fairness. We conduct diversity injection testing to ensure our systems do not disproportionately flag or penalize any particular demographic, sect, ethnicity, or cultural group. If you believe AI moderation has treated you unfairly, please report this through our appeals process.
13. Guidelines for Guardians and Family Members
Walima welcomes and encourages family involvement in the matchmaking process. If you are a parent, guardian, or family member managing a profile on behalf of someone else:
You must have the explicit consent of the person whose profile you are managing
All profile information must be truthful and provided by or verified with the person
Photos must be of the actual person, not of the guardian or anyone else
You must clearly indicate in the profile that it is managed by a guardian and specify your relationship
You are responsible for ensuring all interactions conducted on the profile comply with these Guidelines
The person on whose behalf the profile is created retains the right to request account deactivation or deletion at any time
When communicating with other members or families, maintain the same standards of respect and courtesy expected of all users
14. Success Stories and Testimonials
We celebrate every match that leads to a successful marriage. If you wish to share your success story:
Both partners must consent to the story being published
Stories must be truthful and reflect your genuine experience
Photos included with success stories must have the consent of all persons depicted
Success stories may be featured on the Platform, our social media channels, and marketing materials
You may request removal of your success story at any time by contacting support@walima.app
15. Compliance with Applicable Laws
All members must comply with applicable local, national, and international laws when using the Platform. This includes, but is not limited to:
Laws regarding marriage, consent, and personal status in your jurisdiction
Data protection and privacy laws (Bangladesh PDPO 2025, GDPR, CCPA, and others)
Anti-harassment, anti-stalking, and anti-discrimination laws
Laws regarding identity fraud and document forgery
Cybercrime and computer misuse laws
Child protection laws, including COPPA and equivalent regulations
Walima cooperates fully with law enforcement agencies investigating criminal activity. We will disclose member information to authorities when required by law or when we have a good-faith belief that disclosure is necessary to protect the safety of any person or the public.
16. Child Safety and Protection
Walima is committed to the protection of children. The Platform is strictly for adults aged 18 and above. In accordance with Google Play’s Age-Restricted Content and Functionality policy and Apple’s App Store guidelines:
Minors (under 18) are prohibited from creating accounts or using the Platform
We use age-restriction mechanisms through Play Console and App Store age-gating tools to block access to minors
Any content that exploits, sexualizes, endangers, or otherwise harms children will result in immediate permanent ban, content removal, and reporting to law enforcement (including NCMEC where applicable)
We do not knowingly collect, store, or process any personal data of children
If you discover that a minor has created an account, please report it immediately
Our commitment to child safety is non-negotiable and forms a core part of our Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, and Privacy Policy.
17. Updates to These Guidelines
We may update these Community Guidelines from time to time to reflect changes in our Platform, legal requirements, community feedback, or industry best practices. When we make material changes:
We will post the updated Guidelines with a revised “Last Updated” date
We will notify you via in-app notification and/or email
Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Guidelines
We encourage you to review these Guidelines periodically. Previous versions are available upon request.
